THE WORLD WAR III

WAR NEWS FORECAST

PRAYER THOUGHT We are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events. Many of the prophecies are about to be fulfilled in quick succession. Every element of power is about to be set to work. Past history will be repeated; old controversies will arouse to new life, and peril will beset God’s people on every side. Intensity is taking hold of the human family. It is permeating everything upon the earth. Testimonies to ministers, p.116.2

PURPOSE OF THE STUDYTo show that the bible contains prophecy about world war II and III in the book Nahum dual prophecy. The prophecy shows which nations would be involved in the war in form of titles and what would be the outcome.

INTRODUCTION

Nahum beholds two great powers in conflict projected to a day when everything on wheels moves like “lightning.” Two powers are seen rising in their might against each other. Indeed, the all-consuming concern of Nahum’s entire book, but three short chapters in all, centers in the preparation for this conflict, the conflict itself, and the titles of the powers involved.

FOUR CLUES UNLOCKING THE PROPHESY OF NAHUM WAR

  • The first clue to this solution is that the war preparation takes place when chariots with flaming torches “rage in the streets…jostle one against another in the broad ways,” and “run like the lightnings,” 2:3, 4. It is self-evident that these preparations are made when the thoroughfares of city and countryside are congested with vehicular traffic.
  • The second clue is that the conflict itself takes place when mechanized power is developed to such a degree that vehicles are driven at a speed which seems lightning-like. The war itself, consequently, is to be fought by mechanized armies. Tract 14 page 5
  • The third clue is that the one power, being called “Assyria,” has a hereditary title, which reveals that it is the modern counterpart of the once widespread empire of ancient Assyria even as modern Babylon of Revelation 17, verse 5, is the modern counterpart of ancient Babylon, and as “spiritual Egypt” of Revelation 11, verse 8, is the modern counterpart of ancient Egypt. (See The Great Controversy, pp. 269, 270.) All of these counterparts, then, are but another Scriptural intimation, and confirmation, of the age-old truth that history repeats itself, and on much broader scale than in the original.

“We are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events. Many of the prophecies are about to be fulfilled in quick succession Every element of power is about to be set to work.  Past history will be repeated; old controversies will arouse to new life, and peril will beset God’s people on every side. Intensity is taking hold of the human family.  It is permeating everything upon the earth.” — Testimonies to Ministers, p. 116.

  • The clincher is that the other power, “He that dasheth in pieces,” has an acquired title earned by virtue of his exploits. Manifestly, therefore, it designates a nation that is headed by a ruler of no royal line, but of anomalous character and unprecedented might, whose military genius scatters and destroys all who dare oppose him. Tract 14 page 6

Regardless of whether this four-way key discloses these two camps to be the “Axis” and the “United Nations” today, one’s only safety from being caught and ruined sooner or later in this predicted struggle, is to follow strictly the path which God has prophetically mapped out.  Indeed, the prophecies are given for no other reason than to illumine the traveler’s steps to safety.  “…through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” Prov. 11:9.

NAHUM’S WAR IS NOT WORLD WAR I

This is not to say that the former World War (first world war) is excluded from prophecy, but simply that an entirely different Scriptural background is given for it. The Saviour Himself predicted with terrible exactness that fearful conflict climaxing nineteen centuries of wars and rumors of wars, when He declared: “Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers’ places.   All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matt. 24:7, 8. Indeed then (1914-1918), for the first time since the dawn of history, the nations and the kingdoms rose against each other, famine stalked the war-ravaged countries, the death’s- head of pestilence followed after, and earthquakes in quick succession flung abroad their devastation to heap higher the woes of mankind.  All these calamities but led up to World War II, the most terrible one of all time. Truly, indeed the sorrows of World War I did signalize only the beginning of sorrows!

Since the setting for this deadly clash is in a day of advanced mechanization, it could not have been World War I, because the preparation for that conflagration was in process when the machine age was but in its infancy. Even when the war was on, the chariots were too few, too feeble, and too slow to jostle one against another in the manner envisioned. To fulfill the prediction, these two powers must prepare when the chariots are many and mighty and fast, as they are today. Tract 14 page 9.3

White House Recruiter 4:3 (EN) “The First World War was a decided shock to the earlier period of optimism, … Today the shock is almost incredibly greater. Insecurity and strife are so general that the prevailing attitude is one of anxious and pessimistic uncertainty.” — John Dewey, Reconstruction in Philosophy, p. 8. The White-House Recruiter page 4.3

WHICH NATIONS ARE INVOLVED IN THE WAR?

chapter one – Nah. 1:1 “The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite…. Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.” Plainly, Assyria with her capital city, Nineveh, are the one people. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 24, page 11

Nah. 1:10,11 “For while they be folden together as thorns [united with others to protect themselves], and while they are drunken as drunkards [filled with theory], they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry [as when fire sweeps through it].  There is one come out of thee [out of a nation characterized by ancient Assyria], that imagineth evil against the Lord, a wicked counsellor.”

In the light of these passages, it becomes clear from the outset that though “Assyria” is armed and allied with other strong nations (“folden together as thorns”), yet neither her armament nor…. …. her alliance will save her.  For having become drunken as a drunkard, and having received wicked counsel of one that has come out of her, she shall “be devoured as stubble fully dry.”  “Thus saith the Lord; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he [that dasheth in pieces] shall pass through.” Nah. 1:12, first part. Tract 14 page 7.

MODERN DAY ASSYRIA

From this we see that the Assyria under discussion exists in the time of the end, the time in which the great and dreadful day of the Lord takes place.  This Assyria, therefore, is an antitype of ancient Assyria just as the Babylon of Revelation 17 and 18 is an antitype of ancient Babylon. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 23. Page 5

Assyria, charges Inspiration, is a rejoicing city that dwells carelessly, that says in her heart, “I am, and there is none beside me.” Zeph. 2:15.

At this point let us pause a moment and summarize the characteristics by which this modern Assyria is to be identified.  (1) As man looks at things, she is so great that there is none like her.  She is well instructed in the things of God.  (2) She is oppressive, a hard ruling nation.  (3) She has polluted the sanctuary and has declared the law of God void.  (4) She has piled up wealth by going after it as an evening Wolfe goes after its prey.  (5) She harbors the church of God.  (6) She exists in the time the Lord is to manifest His power and destroy all the wicked nations.  (7) She is an Assyria-like nation, widespread, a nation of conquests.

There is but one people under the sun that answers to all these descriptions, and that people is, of course, the English-speaking people, in whose midst is the church, and from whose midst the Gospel and the Bible flow out to all nations.  As clear as language can make it, the burden of the prophet Zephaniah is for the English-speaking Christian world.

God is now saying to Assyria’s capital city, “Indeed, you are doing all these abominations, but you will not thus continue long.  The time is at hand.”  Put a stop to your absurdities. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 23 page 6

NATIONS FIGHTING

chapter two – Nah. 2:1. “He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.”

It is plain to see that the one who dashes in pieces, and who comes before Assyria’s face is the one who forces Assyria to prepare, to militarize herself mightily. Her forced military preparations, agitated by him that dashes in pieces, starts Assyria on her downfall. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 24, page 14

Coming face to face with the might of him “that dasheth in pieces,” Assyria is driven furiously to fortify herself.  And though in addition to her fortifications, her allied strength numerically is greater than the allied strength of him “that dasheth in pieces” (if indeed he be allied at all), yet even his very title indicates that against his might all the Assyrian “strong holds shall be like fig trees with the first-ripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.” Nah. 3:12.

Nah. 2:3. “The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken. “Very evident it is that this aggressor power who “dasheth in pieces,” girds himself for war in the day when the chariots have such blazing lights (powerful electric headlights) that they resemble “flaming torches”!  In the day of this phenomenon, “the fir trees [the great rulers of earth — Ezek. 31:1-14] shall be terribly shaken.”. Tract 14 page 8

Nah. 2:4. “The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.” Again, there is no escaping the conclusion that these two powers plunge into war with each other at a time when everything vehicular is geared to unprecedented speed, and that their feverish preparations for combat must therefore include an intensified implementing of their fighting forces with fast-moving “chariots.”  Daniel also, was told that in “the time of the end, many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Dan. 12:4. Tract 14 page 9

Nah. 2:5 — “He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defense shall be prepared.”

His worthies (his mighty generals) stumble in their walk; that is, they make a mistake as they march on in hope of victory. In view of their disastrous blunder, and in view of the fact that “he that dasheth in pieces” is mentioned no more in Nahum’s book, it is evident that by his stumbling he loses the war. Nevertheless, according to the verses that follow in Nahum’s chapters, the fall of Assyria is certain. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 24, page 14

The question, then arises, if Assyria is to fall, and if the one that starts the war, the “he that dasheth in pieces,” is himself to lose out first, then at whose hands is Assyria to fall? For the answer, let us turn to Isaiah 31, where this same Assyria is again brought to view:

Isa. 31:6-8 — “Turn ye unto Him from Whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin. Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.”

Assyria is to fall and to be devoured, but not by the sword of a mean man, not by him who dashes in pieces. Now the fact that God’s people are admonished to turn unto Him against Whom ancient Israel revolted, shows again that Inspiration is speaking to antitypical Israel, to God’s people in the Christian era.

Isa. 31:7 — “For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.”

Obviously the prophet is looking down the stream of time, to a time of a thorough reformation, a time in which only those who forsake every sin and embody Truth and righteousness will be left in the church. None others will be found in the congregation of the Lord. Then Assyria shall fall and thus shall her yoke be removed from the neck of God’s people. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 24, page 15

The Assyrian is to fall because of his wickedness, and because God’s people return to Him, because of a thorough revival and reformation.

Isa. 31:9 — “And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and His furnace in Jerusalem.”

All these calamities overtake Assyria as soon as God’s people turn to Him, as soon as they cast away their idols.

Nah. 2:5-8. “He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk [that is, though he exults in them, they, too, nevertheless, shall fall]; they shall make haste to the wall [fortress] thereof, and the defense [by Assyria] shall be prepared. The gates of the rivers [nevertheless] shall be opened and the [Assyrian’s] palace shall be dissolved.  And Huzzab [of Assyria] shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids [nations under her rule] shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.  But Nineveh [the capital city] is of old like a pool of water: yet they [her citizens] shall flee away.  Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.” Tract 14 page 12

Unlike flowing or undulating waters, water in a pool stands still.  But in this instance, the waters (peoples) in the capital city of the present-day “Assyrians,” contrary to all expectations and their fighting tradition, flee away.  And even when they hear the command to stand, they shall be so anxious to get out of the way of him “that dasheth in pieces” that they shall not dare look back. Hence, to him “that dasheth in pieces,” the command is: “Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture.” Nah. 2:9.

Subsequent to giving this command to despoil Assyria, the Lord turns to the “bloody city” and pronounces upon her the resulting doom:

Nah. 2:10-13. “She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.  Where is the dwelling of the lions [the kings’ palaces], and the feeding-place of the young lions [the dominion of his princes], where the lion, even the old lion [the head king] walked, and the lion’s whelp [the king’s son], and none made them afraid?  The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses [queens] and filled his holes with prey, and his dens [treasuries] with ravin [riches]. Tract 14 page 13

“Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.”

WHY IS GOD AGAINST ASSYRIA?

chapter three. Nah. 3:1-19: “Woe to the bloody city!  it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not; the noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.  The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcasses; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses; because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the well-favored harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

“Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.  And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazing stock.  And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?  Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?  Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.  Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains. Tract 14 page 14

“Thou [Assyria] also shalt be drunken; thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.  All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the first ripe figs: if they be shaken they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.  Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.  Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the mortar, make strong the brick kiln [the manufacturing plants].  There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.  Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and fleeth away.  Thy crowned [under-lords] are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are [they are lovers of ease and of pleasure].  Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.  There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous; all that hear the brunt of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?” Nevertheless, “at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; if that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.” Jer. 18:7, 8. Tract 14 page 15

Seeing that the Lord is about to humiliate “Assyria” for her own good, but that He would forbear doing so if only she would repent as did Nineveh of old at Jonah’s warning, obviously this Forecast is published to benefit not the church alone but “Assyria” and her allies also, and even their enemy. Nevertheless, if these belligerents will not voluntarily awaken to the fact that Destiny is not in their own hands but in the mighty hands of the Infinite and Omnipotent God, then will He bring them involuntarily to that realization, and spare only their God-fearing citizens, as He declares:

“In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.  In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel Mine inheritance.”  Isa. 19:23-25 Thus in His infinite mercy would the Lord lift “the burden of Nineveh” today, even as He did in the ancient day.  Indeed, it is for “a blessing in the midst of the land,” even to all nations, that He is to effect. Tract 14 page 16

WHO WILL WIN

Although Nahum’s prophecy places the greater emphasis on the fall of Assyria, it nevertheless declares that they both will lose out, for speaking of him that “dasheth in pieces,” the scripture says: {1TG3: 15.3}

Nah. 2:5 — “He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.” To “recount his worthies” implies that the number of worthies — captains and generals and other mighty men along with his fine army — is diminishing and hence the need of recounting, and that “his worthies” are to stumble in their walk; that is they are to make some kind of a blunder on their march to victory and cause them to fall. {1TG Nos. 3,4 16:1}

GOD INTERPOSES AGAINST ASSYRIA?

Nahum makes clear that in this conflict God interposes against Assyria, and that as a result she is unable to withstand him who “dasheth in pieces.”  Having set Himself to humble her, He therefore strengthens the arms of her enemy.  Accordingly, Assyria falls, not because she is weak and small nor because she is out-numbered and out-matched, but because God’s purpose determines her downfall.  In other words, the coalition which may have the greater resources and man-power, and which from the human point of view may seem sure to win, is in this case sure to lose. Tract 14 page 26

Such is the ironic pattern of history.  Always has God visited judgment upon enlightened nations or peoples who have become so self-righteous and self-sufficient that their lights have gone out and their works become wicked and hypocritical.  Ever has He punished them by the sword of the unenlightened and outright wicked barbarian.  This He does for two reasons: first, that they might see the folly of professing themselves to be a righteous people, when they are in fact worse than barbarians; and second, that while these hypocritical ones are thereby led to repent, their conquerors may thereby be led to see that their victory is not of their own strength.  Thus both victor and vanquished are brought to a place where they may surrender to God and give glory to Him. After defeating Ancient Babylon, Cyrus, a barbarian, found that his victory and even his name had been recorded in sacred prophecy years before he was born (Isa. 44:28; 45:1-4).  Whereupon “the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he makes a proclamation …. Tract 14 page 27

…throughout all his kingdom…. Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The Lord God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and He hath charged me to build Him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.  Who is there among you of all His people?  his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah and build the house of the Lord God of Israel (He is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.  And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth let the men of his place help him with silver and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem…. “Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods; even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.  And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives, thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.  All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred.  All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.” Ezra 1:1-4, 7-11. Tract 14 page 28

TIME AND CHANCE SOLVE MYSTERIES

Time and chance are still the most trustworthy witnesses, as well as the best disclosers of mysteries. They now give the answers to the questions: Which one of the nations is “Assyria” of today?  Who is “he that dasheth in pieces”?  When does the clash of these two mortal enemies take place (p.47.)?

Now that considerable time has passed since this tract came off the press (4 years), and since many important events have shaped themselves to maturity since then…The trend of World War II leaves no doubt that it is the one foretold by the prophet Nahum.  This is made manifest by several facts: Tract 14 page 51

Hitler made his preparation for war in an era when the chariots were raging in the streets, running lightning-like, and jostling one against another in the broadways; that after the allies Hitler’s military might breaking everything in pieces wherever he took his guns then it was that they themselves begun to build gigantic war machines; Hitler stumbled, as it were, by starting war against Russia while he was still engaged in war with Great Britain; although Germany lost the war, yet rather than taking deeper root since the downfall of Hitler, England is instead wearing away, and the crashing sounds of her empire are becoming louder with each passing day; Hitler’s war has dashed in pieces the whole world, and new chips and cracks are heard and seen right along — that there are new partisan politics from within and from without in every nation and people.

Since Nahum’s description of the city and country traffic at the time his war prophecy is fulfilled perfectly fits the conditions of World War II, we are assured that the war which Hitler began will actually be finished when Assyria falls. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 24, page 18

Inspiration makes clear that Nahum’s war is fought in the time the chariots rage in the streets, while they jostle one against another in the broad ways, while they seem like torches and run like the lightnings, in our day (Nah. 2:4).

The prophet, moreover, states that after the one that “dasheth in   pieces” (Nah. 2:1) comes up before Assyria’s face, then it is that Assyria makes her “loins strong,” fortifies her “power mightily” (Nah. 2:1) — which, as the whole world knows, is just what took place when Hitler came against the allies: The allies, being unprepared to fight Hitler when he started dashing in pieces, they necessarily fortified their power mightily after the war began.  All these facts prove that World War II is the war prophesied by Nahum, and that Hitler is the one that “dasheth in pieces.” Though Nahum predicts the “fall of Assyria” in connection with “he that dasheth in pieces,” it does not say that he that dashes in pieces is himself to finish off Assyria, as one would naturally be inclined to conclude.  It is now seen, though, that he that dasheth in pieces, himself was only to break or cause to be broken in pieces not only the allied nations, but his own nation, too.  In fact, the prophecy says that “his worthies” (the worthies of the one that dasheth in pieces), were not to win, but that they were to “stumble in their walk,” stumble while on their march to victory (Nah. 2:5).   And what happened in Hitler’s armies? — They stumbled while endeavoring to defeat Russia. Tract 14 page 52.

After Nahum 2:5 there is no more mention of him that dasheth in pieces, showing that he is out of the way.  Add to this fact the truth that the war has split the whole world — practically all nations and peoples — into opposing chips of all sizes, and we have solid anchors to the proof that World War II is Nahum’s war, and that Hitler is the one whom inspiration entitled “he that dasheth in pieces.” Indeed, he divided the nations and peoples so that so far no one has been able to weld them together. Tract 14 page 53

by the outcome of the war, England actually has not won.  Yes, she has lost far beyond what she would have lost had she let Hitler have what he wanted in the first place — only a part of Poland.

WORLD WAR II

does the prophecy of nahum predict world war ii?

1TG Nos. 3,4 13:2-3 (EN) For the answer let us go directly to Nahum’s prophecy. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 3: 13.2

Nah. 2:1 — “He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.” Nahum predicts that the one who starts the war, “he that dasheth in pieces,” will have been well prepared before he starts the war, but his opposing power, Assyria, will not have been prepared until after the war begins; that is, after the one who “dasheth in pieces” comes before Assyria’s face, then it is that Assyria makes preparation to meet him. Then it is that she makes her loins strong, and fortifies her “power mightily.” Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 3: 13.3

1TG Nos. 3,4 14:1-3 (EN)  Now, since it is a known fact that Great Britain and France were not prepared to fight Hitler when he opened up his guns against them, and as everyone of the Allies began to prepare themselves mightily after Hitler started to dash in pieces, the truth stands out as clear as crystal that “he who dasheth in pieces” is none other than Hitler, the one that was ready at the commencement of the war, the one who broke in several pieces Germany itself, the British empire and many other countries. The Allies, therefore, must be the antitypical Assyria. This is clue number one. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 3: 14.1

For clue number two we shall read about the means of travel and transportation in the day that the war preparations are made and the war itself fought.  Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 3: 14.2

Verses 3, 4 — “…the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, … The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.” These verses portray the means of travel and transportation in the day the war preparations are made and the war fought. Since World War II is the only war in history for which the preparations described by Nahum were made and used while the “chariots” (vehicular traffic) move with unprecedented speed, “lightning-like” speed, while motor traffic in air and sea, in city and countryside (streets and broadways), “justled one against another.” All these signs of the time, mark the time the war is fought, they leave no room for doubts. They all in perfect terms certify that Nahum predicts World War II… Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 3: 14.3

WORLD WAR Ⅱ YET TO BE FINISHED

Then too, the defeat of Japan and of Germany has by no means ended the war.  It has only deepened the international deadly wound.  Thus the possibilities of fulfilling every phase of truth contained in Tract No. 14, WAR NEWS FORECAST, are now brighter than before.  As far as Inspiration is concerned, World War II has not ended.

This in itself is evidence enough that the world now, during this period of international unrest such as it has never before had — unrest that is caused by every existing element — is to give birth to something.  As so far as we see it now, all the things of which we read in Tracts No. 12, The World Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow and No. 14, War News Forecast seem to be on the way to quick fulfillment. Tract 14 page 54

WHY HITLER IS TITLED THE HE THAT DASHES IN PIECES

1TG Nos. 3,4 16:2 (EN)  Well, that is all Hitler did. He began to dash in pieces from the very inception of the war, — none were able to stand against him, and even after he disappeared, and Germany surrendered, the breaking in pieces continued and as yet has not stopped. As a result the whole world is broken in pieces, not only geographically, but politically and socially and economically as well. The English Empire is still tottering, and the ominous “squeaks” are becoming louder and louder with each passing day. Hitler, therefore, deserves the title (“dasheth in pieces”) in more than one way. Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 3: 16.2

WHAT MADE HITLER TO STUMBLE

2TG Nos. 41,42 15:2-3 (EN)  Hitler caused his worthies to stumble by waging war against Russia while in war with Great Britain, and by going after Greece and Egypt rather than crossing the English channel when England, unknown to him, was almost to give up. Thus his worthies stumbled and never rose again. Finally, Hitler disappeared and hostilities ceased. But according to Nahum’s prophecy, and also according to current events as broadcast by news reports everywhere, the war is still on; it has not actually ceased, but is only making a turn for the worse, yes, and it is only a matter of time before it will become even hotter than it was previous to Hitler’s disappearance. IS IT HITLER OR ARE WE TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER

From current developments in the European theater of war, it does look as though Hitler is doomed. Despite this appearance, however Nahum’s prophecy analytically fits him, although it is possible that someone else may yet come forth to carry the prediction to fulfillment. And if during this war{ww2} the prophecy does not meet its entire fulfillment, then it must be that the sealing of the saints is yet incomplete the work of the message unfinished, the first fruits not ready to stand with the Lamb on Mt. Zion. This seems to be the only hindrance. Answerer 5 31:5

Since the He that dashes in pieces in the second world war didn’t accomplish the task, the second world war is not yet over it has to resume and the new that dashes in pieces.

Numbers 23:1. God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Isaiah 55:11. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
